Soil loss and erosion potential estimation of Jhimruk watershed, Nepal

Soil erosion will have impact in the land productivity, water resource and watershed as a whole. The loss of top soil leads to degradation for an agrarian area like Jhimruk which also known “The rice bowl Nepal”, it would be huge consequence on productivity. Therefore, is essential know spatial distribution areas susceptible assess potential plan effective mitigation measures. Revised Universal Loss Equation (RUSLE) model was used Geographic Information System (GIS) estimate watershed, Lumbini Province, Nepal. This research aimed calculate erosional status local governments lying inside watershed. For this, remote sensing data obtained from various sources were generate factor maps through RUSLE. A 13-year mean annual precipitation 8 meteorological stations around used. found 13.4 tons per hectare year (t/ha/yr).
